Academic Excellence

At Northridge Community School we believe that the God of the Bible is the author and source of all knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. We seek to advance the whole child, helping the student to “increase in wisdom, stature, and favor with all men”, as Jesus did (Luke 2:52). It is our unique privilege not only to equip the students with academic ability, but also to awaken interest and kindle an enthusiasm for learning.

Our school structure utilizes both classroom instructors and the students' parents. We view the parents’ role as one of support and review of what has been introduced conceptually in class.

Our academic program exceeds the standards set by the State of California. The education the students receive in the classroom, coupled with the one-on-one instruction by the parent on homeschool days, produces students who excel academically. The effectiveness of the program is evident in the results of our yearly standardized testing throughout all our grade levels.

Traditional School & Home School Hybrid

Northridge Community School is a traditional school and homeschool hybrid. Students are on campus three days a week and at home two days a week.

The teacher’s instruction in the classroom spans all academic subjects. The school selects the curriculum and the teachers create the lesson plans for in-class instruction and homeschool days. This allows for the benefits of both classroom instruction and one-on-one interaction with the parent.

Biblically Based Curriculum

We believe that biblical truth is the foundation of every subject of education. It is vital that a Christian school use the excellent Christian resources available. There are various curriculums that we use depending on grade level.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)

Parental Involvement

We believe parents should actively teach their children biblical standards of conduct enabling their children to grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially in a manner that honors God. We support the biblical principles being taught in the home.

“Bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4b)

Others-Centered

We believe that an orientation towards loving and serving others is not only a command of scripture, but an outflow of salvation. Therefore, the school is to further reinforce the preciousness of others and enhance a sense of unity. A school setting provides children with opportunities to be concerned with those around them and to live out a manner of life that reflects Christ in us.

“ . . . let each of you regard one another as more important than himself.” (Philippians 2:3b)

Moral Innocence

We believe the school should aid in protecting the moral innocence of its student body and that children should be allowed to remain children as long as they can. We therefore do not expose children to moral issues such as sex education and drug awareness. It is the responsibility of the parents to teach these issues in the home. We further believe that a child who has been introduced to these concepts at home, from a biblical perspective, are not to discuss them at school with other children.

“. . . be wise in what is good, and innocent to what is evil.” (Romans 16:19b)
